Remembering Artist Jay Scott Pike

Remembering artist Jay Scott Pike on his birthday (September 6, 1924 - September 13, 2015).  Likely better known for his work on the one and only Showcase featuring Dolphin or a very special Star Trek issue, Pike spent more time working on romance comics.

Here, a sample of covers, celebrating what would have been his 100th birthday.

Girls' Love Stories #100 and Girls' Romances #100 (January and April, 1964)

A Pair Of Girls' Romances

"We'll Never Meet Again" was the title for the two part story in two issues of Girls' Romances (#127 and #128 from September and October, 1967)...

... by Jay Scott Pike (the creator of Dolphin).

In this special two part story, we meet Nurse Pat Tobin, who cares for wounded soldiers.  Pat seems to do too good a job, as she earns the ire of Captain Bill Mitchell, who accuses her of coddling his men. Later on leave in Japan, the two meet and fall in love.

But, as the second part of the story unfolds, Bill is sent into action and goes missing...with Pat left to wait on his return.
