Mystery Unknown President

An alien is found to be suffering delusions....he thinks there is a planet called Earth, and that that planet has a president....

...but which president?

That depends on what decade you read the tale.

1950s

In Mystery In Space #30 (February-March, 1956), with a story by Otto Binder, Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella (with a cover by Gil Kane), the patient alien has delusions of Earth, under a President Izen-Hower (Dwight D. Eisenhower).

Such is the first case of The Impossible World Named Earth!

1970s

When the tale by Binder, Infantino and Giella was reprinted in From Beyond The Unknown #17 (June-July, 1972) with a cover by Murphy Anderson, the delusional alien got to see visions of Nee-Xon (because Richard Nixon was now President, and DC, trying to hide their reprints, changed to the current President).

Making this a second case of The Impossible World Named Earth!

Hail To The Warlord

Travis Morgan...President?

An unlikely scenario, yes, but it happened in Warlord #84 (August, 1984) by Cary Burkett, Dan Jurgens and Dan Adkins (with cover by Dan Jurgens and Dick Giordano).

The USAF pilot who had made Skartaris his home ended up in the near future, in a world ravaged by nuclear war, and helped fight using UFOs he got from New Atlantis.  Then, after the current President was gone, Travis ended up being elected President by Congress.

Just when you thought elections couldn't get any weirder....

Abraham Lincoln Life Story

Remembering 16th President Abraham Lincoln on his birthday (February 12, 1809) with the Dell Comic, Abraham Lincoln Life Story from March, 1958, with a cover attributed to either John or Sal Buscema.

The comic by Gaylord DuBois and Alberto Giolotti, covered Lincoln's life, from his boyhood in a log cabin, to his wild life in the backwoods of Kentucky and Indiana, moving up to be a lawyer then elected official in Illinois, becoming President on March 4, 1861, dealing with the Civil War and freeing the slaves, then his untimely assassination by Confederate supporter, John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865.

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

Superman As President?

Faster than a speeding congressman, more powerful than a filibuster, able to leap tall monuments in a single bound...

....it is Superman as President of the United States!

Taking advantage of the alternate futures that Waverider was able to project when touching your favorite DC heroes in the 1991 Armageddon 2001 Annuals, readers get to see what a Superman presidency would be like in Action Comics Annual #3 (1991) by Roger Stern, Tom Grummett, Phil Rodier, Carlos Garzon, Doug Hazlewood and Brad Vancata under a cover by Dave Gibbons.

After a brief battle with Kalibak of the New Gods and a conversation with Metron, Superman goes to have a date night with Lois (as Clark Kent), when Waverider arrives to see Superman's future.

In this future, Pa Kent dies in a horrible accident on the farm, prompting Ma Kent to move to Metropolis, Clark and Lois to get married, and Pete Ross to run for President.  After a nearly successful attempt on Pete's life by Intergang, foiled only by Clark Kent (who exposes his duel identity in public to save his friend), Pete convinces Clark to run for President in his place.  After having the Supreme Court rule Superman is an American (as his birthing chamber was also his rocket, meaning Superman was born in the USA), Superman runs for and wins the Presidency.  Clark settles the national debt with help from Aquaman (finding old sea treasure), has Luthor arrested for plotting to kill him, and unites the world's heroes to help all mankind.

Not the bleak future where Monarch ruled that he was looking for, Waverider leaves Superman (who prevents this future by being slightly distracted, and going to save Pa Kent from being crushed by a tractor).

Wonder Woman For President

Great Hera!  What a great idea....Wonder Woman for President!

DC had that idea back with Wonder Woman #7 (Winter, 1943), and this cover by H. G. Peter, and a story by William Moulton Marston (under his pen name of Charles Moulton) involving Wonder Woman traveling through time....and even becoming president in the future!

Better still, this story is reprinted in the Wonder Woman Archives #3 (from 2002).

The CW's Supergirl has TV's Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter as president!

The future is now!
