Remembering Artist Dan DeCarlo

Remembering artist Dan DeCarlo on his birthday (December 12, 1919 - December 19, 2002) with a couple of covers for the Archie Giant Series Magazine, featuring Santa Claus.  

On the first, #168 of January, 1970, Betty is asking for what she wants for Christmas (much to Veronica's dismay), and the second, #220 of December, 1973, has Sabrina dealing with Santa in a mall as well.

Seeing what's cooking with Sabrina Spellman and her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, as Sabrina puts a new age spin on a old cauldron in these two issues of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (#21 from September, 1974 by Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick, and #36 from December, 1976 by Stan Goldberg and Jon D'Agostino).

A Christmas Laugh

Santa Claus gets the royal treatment as Christmas approaches, as Rudolph looks on.  Here, on the cover of Laugh #5 (February, 1988), by Dan DeCarlo, we see Archie, Jughead, Sabrina, Betty and Veronica fuss over St. Nick, all while Josie and the Pussycats sing carols for him.

Remembering artist Dan DeCarlo (December 12, 1919 - December 18, 2002) on his birthday, with a mini tribute to two characters he co-created for Archie Comics...Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Cheryl Blossom!

Here, the cover to Sabrina The Teenage Witch #77 (January, 1983) and Cheryl Blossom #11 (April, 1998), as we get ready for the snowy weather by dealing with snowmen.

Sabrina's Christmas Shopping Magic

There are a few advantages to being a teenage witch, as Sabrina shows her Aunt Hilda how it makes shopping for Christmas a little easier, on this cover to Archie Giant Series Magazine #491 (January, 1980) by Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick.

Riverdale Comic Con

With CW's Riverdale likely a part of the San Diego Comic Con, it is time to show that Archie and his friends have been a part of Comic Cons for years, with this cover by Bill Galvan and Mike DeCarlo for Archie And Friends #156 (August, 2011), the last issue of the series with a new story (the next three issues of the series were reprints).

On the cover are:  Betty Cooper (Avatar), Archie Andrews (Pureheart The Powerful), Veronica Lodge (Snow White), Sabrina Spellman (Princess Leia), Josie McCoy (Catwoman), Reggie Mantle (Harry Potter), Chuck Clayton (Luke Skywalker), Jughead Jones (Spock) and Bingo Wilkin (vampire)....with the group dealing with someone in a Maximus Chrome robot costume trying to wreck their show in a story by Alex Segura, Bill Galvan and Jim Amash.
