Happy Mother's Day With Robin

Robin (Damian Wayne) was trying to be a good friend to Superboy (Jon Kent), as their dads, Batman and Superman are friends, but things got problematic when Damian's mother, Talia Al Ghul came around....trying to kill reporter Lois Lane (who was Jon' mother).

Oh, how difficult Mother's Day can be for some, as shown in the Parent Trap, in Super Sons #13 and #14 (April and May, 2018), first cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli and second cover by Jorge Jimenez (with both variant covers by Dustin Nguyen, with stories by Peter J. Happy Mother's Day With A Young Wonder Woman 2023

A Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, and may your day not be as eventful as it was for the young Wonder Woman, who had to defend her mother, Queen Hippolyta, from the Sky Riders of Nebulosta in Wonder Woman #209 (December-January, 1973/1974) by Robert Kanigher, Ric Estrada and Vince Colletta (which was an Earth-1 version of the first Wonder Girl story from Wonder Woman #23 (May-June, 1947) by William Marston and H. G. Peter.   

 

Happy Mother's Day With Wonder Woman 2021

It's been a rough year, but you still have to care for your mother.

At the time of Wonder Woman #183 (July-August, 1969) by Mike Sekowsky and Dick Giordano, when she had to "Return To Paradise Island!"...

...after Paradise Island had been shunted away into another dimension, and Wonder Woman was now the fighting Diana Prince (without powers due to the island leaving the dimension of Earth-1), Diana had to deal with her mother in a coma.

Diana had to fight the forces of Ares, who were invading the island to gain the power to traverse dimensions, all the while worrying about her mom.

The story continued into the next issue (and both stories were reprinted in Wonder Woman #198 in January-February, 1972).  

As much as Diana and Hippolyta had been at odds, Diana was still there for her mom.

Happy Mothers Day Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman didn't have the best relationship with her mother, Queen Hippolyta of Paradise Island, at times, as shown on this Eduardo Barreto cover for Wonder Woman #322 (December, 1984). 


In "Bid Time Return" by Dan Mishkin, Don Heck and Rick Magyar, Diana learned her mom had kept some of Diana's own memories from her, some specifically involving Steve Trevor, the man Diana loved (and lost, a few times).  In getting Trevor's situation resolved, a rift was caused between Wonder Woman and Hippolyta....

....that would only be resolved later, after Diana faced many of her foes, and Wonder Woman and the Amazons were pulled into the Crisis On Infinite Earths.


May a Crisis not be necessary for you to appreciate your mother.
