Remembering artist
Mac Raboy on his birthday (April 9, 1914 - December 12, 1967) with a couple of his Fawcett covers featuring heroes not in the Marvel Family...Minute Man from
Master Comics #12 (March, 1941) and Ibis from
Ibis #1 (1942).
Minute Man was Jack Weston, a patriotic hero who was also a member of the Crime Crusaders Club, and Ibis was an ancient Egyptian prince as well as a magician, revived in the modern day to fight crime with his Ibistick.
Minute Man was an underrated Fawcett hero that DC could really do a lot more with if they tried. Other than Jerry Ordway using him occasionally in Power of Shazam, I can only think of one other instance when I've seen the character in a DC Comic. Sadly, that was Mark Russell doing him dirty in One-Star Squadron, where he was portrayed as an Hourman parody who used Miraclo to give himself superpowers for 60 seconds.
